If you enjoy gambling and you are going to be staying in Florida for a while or currently live there, then you will of course want to be able to take part in some gambling fun. There are a range of options open to you with regard to gambling in Florida: you can try casino boats, where you cruise offshore around nine miles out into the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean to allow you enjoy gambling while you float. These can be a really fun experience, although the downside is that you cannot just leave whenever you want to!
There are also eight tribal casinos in Florida, seven of which belong to the Seminole tribe and one which belongs to the Miccosukee tribe. These all offer Class II gambling – that is, slot machines which are actually operated on a bingo like format and therefore do not actually need the reels to show you your results – but they also offer other types of gambling such as traditional table games. The other kind of casino in the state is the normal pari-mutuel kind, although you should be aware that there is no drinking permitted in this sort of casino under Florida gambling law.
Your choices are fairly simple. In terms of cruises you have the Black Diamond Casino Cruise or Victory Casino Cruises, two great firms which will offer you the full experience. In terms of tribal casinos you have the Seminole Casino Big Cypress, Seminole Casino Brighton, Seminole Casino Hollywood, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Hollywoo, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Tampa, and the Miccosukee Indian Gaming. In the case of all of the above, the clue is in the name!
Other gambling opportunities present themselves at the following places: Big M Casino; Calder Casino and Race Course, one of the ever popular racinos featuring slot machines; Casino Miami Jai Alai; Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, where a massive fish tank recently burst causing closure, but which has now reopened; Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park; Jacks or Better Casino; Magic City Casino; Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Centre; and SunCruz Casino – Port Richey. There are a few more openings in the works which may suit your schedule – the Hialeah Park and Race Course is expected to start offering slot machines sometime around the middle of 2013, and there was also talk of adding slots to Dania Jai-Alai: however, this has been postponed indefinitely, so you will need to keep an eye on that story in the news to find out more.
If you are keen on gambling then you will certainly find the chance to indulge that passion in Florida, as this list shows. However, if you are not in a good location to find a casino or if you are not impressed by anything that you see on offer, then remember that you can always try online gambling from your hotel room, or wherever it is that you are going to stay. There is always an opportunity to play casino games!
