Iowa to legalize online casinos
It’s finally good news for the state of Iowa. With a good number of politicians approving the idea it could just be a matter of time for this USA state to legalize online gambling. According to this week’s issue of Des Moines Register, Iowa is giving legalization of Iowa online casinos a serious thought. Well, the Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal had nothing much to say other than that he did not have strong feelings on this issue when it was made public that as much as 150,000 Iowans love online gambling.
Other than that statement, he also added that this system may require bettors to sign up with local land based casinos to prevent gambling related issues like credit card betting. This would also mean taking measures to protect people against money laundering, underage gambling and prevention of problem gambling. Well, looks like he is not the only politician who has something to say about this current development. Kevin MacCarthy, House Minority Leader, also added that even though legalizing online gambling can generate tax revenues it also brings its own share of controversies. He added that the controversy would be caused by people who want to complicate the situation with suggestions and proposals that would talk about making changes to the already existing dog and horse racing or the other forms of already existing gambling laws of the state. Well, only time will tell whether the issues that these politicians are discussing are actually going to affect the state and its gambling laws, but with 150,000 Iowans already proving their undying love for online gambling, it is only apt that the State makes good use of this opportunity and realises that online gambling cannot be stopped but can be legalized and monitored to provide safe gambling for the people.
