Hurricane Season To Affect US Casinos
The climate plays an important role in casino revenue especially in the late summer months. With the hurricane season nearly round the bend and based on earlier devastating experiences, many casinos are forced to close shop. This year the casinos are forced to keep their doors open as the economy is at an all time low and they need to operate to survive, to avoid any further financial disaster. In the past when casinos had closed for the hurricane season, it was such a drain on their resources and some of them took nearly a year to recover.
The loss on gambling in USA revenue cannot be compared to the loss on property. Some of the casinos which are hit by the hurricanes have had to be repaired and this has run into millions of dollars. Some of the casino companies in the US are already struggling with the economic recession, and some are even filing for bankruptcy protection, such that incase of major repairs to be done to the casino the cost could be affordable. If the hurricane has a dramatic effect this year it could well be guessed that some of the casinos may never open their doors again!
However, the entire industry is hoping that this year it would be a calmer hurricane season and the good news is that the National Weather Service has forecasted a relatively calm hurricane and we will keep our fingers crossed , while hoping that nothing tragic happens to these dazzling, gorgeous and fun-filled places on the globe!
